•Dentists are the most frequent prescriber of opioids to teens.

•Teens often encounter opioids for the first time to have their wisdom teeth extracted

5.8% of teens diagnosed with opioid abuse within a year of the first prescription.

•“These are kids who could have gotten Advil and Tylenol, and 6 percent showed evidence of becoming addicted, that's huge" -Andrew Kolodny, co-director of opioid treatment research at Brandeis University.
